Casa Celosía
A HOUSE THAT BREATHES WITH YOU
Set in the sun-soaked valley of Cocoyoc, Morelos, Casa Celosía is a weekend retreat designed to adapt to the climate—and to you. The defining feature? A rhythmic series of operable timber shutters (celosías) that wrap the entire structure, giving you full control over sunlight, airflow, and privacy.
Open them up, and the house becomes a transparent pavilion surrounded by tropical gardens and a private pool. Close them down, and it transforms into a solid, monolithic wooden box—quiet, private, and protected from the heat.
The layout revolves around a central courtyard and expansive decks that embrace outdoor living. Materials are raw and honest: exposed concrete frames provide thermal mass and stay cool, while warm cedar shutters and decking add softness and warmth. It's a house that's built for how people actually live in this climate—inside and outside, all day long.
Perfect for weekends, entertaining, or simply disconnecting from the noise.
